Made this for my final in Tools of the Trade this semester! It's micron for the line art, with watercolor and gouache used for everything else.

Im so happy to be watercoloring ;=;. That probably sounds dumb, but it's one of those things I've always wanted to be able to work in to some degree of satisfaction. I'm a total control freak with my media, so it's not at all surprising that watercolor has pretty much eluded me since the day I fell in love with it.

But it's been a great way to work, and it's also getting me to loosen up a lot more with my art. This piece is about capturing a moment when you feel like time is hurling past you at the speed of WOOOOOAAAAAAAHHH. The contents of the ball jar doesn't read as much like middle-of-the-day sky as I wish it did, but the effect is still nice.

I wanna paint more! But I have to clean EVERYTHING first. This place I live in. WHAT A MESS! Finals has made my room into a warzone, art supplies and dirty laundry scattered over every surface like something exploded in here. Ewy!!!

I think it's really funny that you said you didn't feel like you had control of watercolor... I started in watercolor and moved to other things because I felt I had more freedom in watercolor than I did in other, more opaque, permanent medias. I am overdue in revisiting it, but a clean freak family makes it hard to work in anything where I need to spread out and make a mess. :<
