Artist's Comments

In the wake of my newly declared "stop and go" Hiatus, i've decided to inflict you all with.. MY SCHOOLWORK! Since I haven't had time to work on my illustratory-animeish art as of late. And you know, all the same, these were fun to do as assignments, and hey it's my gallery so why not put my art in it? Now theres a notion!

And I hate seeing this place rot ;=;. So why not!

Anyway description time for the wins. This was the first half of a two part assignment i got to do last fall actually, so it's a bit older, and it was my first time playing in charcoal. We were charged with finding a situation, and in two large-scale drawings depicting some kind of change. Before and after, different lighting, time, motion, etc.

I chose for my subject the house that stood across the street from my apartment, and, perched up on my roommates stool for several days, drew it as it appeared in the morning hours from my window. Im in love with this house! It's magnificently beautiful, so it was amazing to get the chance to work off it. As for the cat, he's a local stray that happened to be walking through the arbor on the day i was drawing the thumbnails for this project, and so he was included.

Tools: charcoal pencils, arches coverstock white (paper. beautiful, heavy, cloth-like paper.)

God, this looks so realistic. How do you manipulate the charcoal to get all of the lighting and textures that you want?
:iconneverwintercc:

Very nice! :3 Love the sketchy effect, even though it still looks real. I would enjoy having a house like that

Paint the moon, and the stars
In an autumn sky
Paint me cool blue waters, with
Shades of gray, just dont let me
Live my life this way
