Devious Journal Entry

Thu May 25, 2006, 2:05 PM
myuurgh, this laptop screen is driving me insane. its like one second everything is all crisp.. and then it's not. i dont even know if i want to keep working on it, but what am i gonna do? i know the differences between the screens and all that jazz, and i know that most screens are going to see these pictures differently even if i work on my old monitor. i just feel like my art's turning to moosh. its already mooshy. but now its turning into super moosh.

that and its nice to not have to work in the dungeon (my brick-walled room.). im all fouled up now, what a mess. how do you tame an LCD? O o

foot!

I've always had problems with LCDs, especially the older ones. Unfortunately though, I've gotten used to LCDs, and I find them much crisper than CRTs. They're also less harsh on my eyes. I still hate the angle thing though. I still have problems with angles when I'm working at home. If I slouch a little too much in my chair, the lightness/darkness changes along with where I'm looking on the screen. ><.

I tried calibrating against my old CRT once, and just found that it was too much of a hassle. The LCD is naturally brighter, and there's no way to change it.

Only the skilled one can tame LCD. I fail miserably TT____TT I heard that the best thing is to print it out and check. But i'm too lazy to do that. never CGed on anything but laptop.. and still do. XD;

Laptop screens will automatically dim after a certain set time period, but you can change that somehow, I know. They do it to conserve energy and keep the system cool.

Personally, while working with an LCD monitor can be frustrating at first, it's just something that takes a little time to get used to. I haven't really seen a massive change in your art to be perfectly honest, so I think you might be worried about something that might not be such a big deal. Obviously your comfort is a big deal but... yeah, you get what I'm saying. I've been coloring on a laptop for over a year now, and an LCD moniter before that for three. It's just a matter of adjustment for the artist! Don't be too worried.

omg, i know -exactly- what yer goin through, i used to have a laptop (before it crapped out on me and died of cancer and faulty amputation) and like, id do one thing on my lappy... finish... be all proud... then go to a different compy and be all like omg!!! its not right!!! D= but 9/10 i mosty satisfied with the color difference i obtained.

something that might help is open up some kinda art program and slide the rgb so that its on pure red or blue or green (whateverA) then adjust the screen till it looks mopst right to you. =3 best i can do to help. ^^;
