Tutorial question - need some input!

Fri Jun 23, 2006, 10:56 AM
Uh oh, it's huge ; ;. Alright, so i tried to compile a folder that has a bunch of screenies to go with the normal description page, and once it's all zipped up it comes to about 11 megs. Is that too big to upload? I don't know a whole lot about tutorials and making them, much less submitting them ^ ^;. So anybody with a little input on that would be really appreciated!

The screenies are helpful because they show the whole picture in the works, rather than the little snippety bits you get on the description. i'd love to be able to share them! but again, im worried about the size of this thing. If all else fails, i'll just submit the tutorial without it.

Maybe go for the 11mg file as many wouldnt mind downloading it and then a smaller imaged file for bandwidth cheapskates or dial up users lol :)

like everyone, I'd download it no matter what, I'd really like a tutorial, and yours has already been a great help, since it gave me quite some ideas to develop my drawing style. plus , I'm a great fan of tutorials.
The size isn't too big either, though maybe it would indeed be a good thing to split it up for dail-up connections.

I'd love to have them, even if they were 11mb each! I'd dedicate a day of my life to download them... maybe if i could get some webspace, I'd host them for you... will get back to you on that...

Submit the 11meg one as a deviation, and a lower quality one to scraps witha link from the deviation. Therefore, people who will take hours to get the 11 meg one can follow the link.

maybe you should change the filetype of the pictures. The .gif are much lighter, but it takes away quality of the picture. Try to put them is .png type, it´s a bit lighter than jpeg, but it has a better compression. If I´m not mistaken, photoshop allows you to use this format..
Resizing the images is also a good idea. If the tutorial doesn´t have too much details, 900 pixels in the largest side is enough.

might try breaking up the tutorial into 2 or 3 submissions.
